The Driver’s Reaction

After the collision, Suhail Sajeev showed no remorse. When confronted by police he reportedly asked, “What are roads meant for? Driving, right?” He also made the same point in Kannada, saying, “ರಸ್ತೆಗಳು ಇರುವುದು ವಾಹನ ಓಡಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕಲ್ಲವೇ?” In addition, he told onlookers and later the police that his father would handle the matter, stating in another Kannada utterance, “ನನ್ನ ಅಪ್ಪ ಈ ಪ್ರಕರಣವನ್ನು ನೋಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳ</tool_call>.” Witnesses said he appeared arrogant and insisted his father would resolve everything.

Investigations revealed that, despite the legal drinking age in Kerala being 23 years, Sajeev had been served alcohol at multiple bars on the night of the crash.

Eyewitness Accounts

An eyewitness named Salim described hearing a loud noise, rushing to the scene, and seeing three people injured on the road after being hit by the Mini Cooper. Salim added that when people stopped the driver, a dispute arose; the driver repeated that his father would take care of everything, and by the time police and ambulance arrived, the injured were already unresponsive.
