The India coalition announced a major protest march to the Supreme Court in Delhi, demanding the suspension of SAIAR and the resignation of Election Commission Chairman Ganesh Kumar. The announcement set the stage for what organizers said would be the largest recent political protest in India led by one coalition.

Senior figures from the alliance—Rahul Gandhi, KC Venugopal, Neha Bor, Ishi Ghosh, Dr. V. Shivdas, and Akhilesh Yadav—chose to travel together in one open vehicle. Their joint presence showed solidarity as they moved through the city with large crowds.

The march began at Connaught Place and proceeded along Bairakhamb Road toward the Supreme Court. Supporters from various states joined the procession, chanting victory slogans. The route took the demonstrators through some of Delhi’s busiest thoroughfares, where the heavy traffic and congestion created pressure on the surrounding traffic.

Authorities responded with a substantial force, deploying Delhi police, central forces, UP police, and Haryana police to manage the flow. Despite this show of strength, the police struggled to contain the massive crowd. Heavy traffic and congestion turned the arteries of the city into bottlenecks, making it difficult for officers to direct the flow or to create clear passages for the marchers.
The most beautiful thing about historic CHALO DILLI march was not crowd It was Rahul Gandhi letting two amazing women - Neha Bora and Priyanka Gandhi lead from the front SMASH THE PATRIARCHY — was not just a slogan, RaGa really meant it and he is proving it everyday. https://t.co/94o62zfTEN
In the congested stretches, some protesters lost their footing and fell, resulting in injuries that were attended to by fellow activists. One notable image from the day showed Dipendra Hooda, the son of former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupender Hooda, being carried on the shoulders of supporters as the crowd pressed forward.
Throughout the march, victory slogans rose from the throng. Rahul Gandhi, speaking amid the procession, confirmed that after securing the necessary permission, the leaders would file a petition at the Supreme Court. He also signaled that alongside the street protest, the alliance intended to pursue a strong legal battle on the issues of SAIAR and the Election Commission chairmanship.

Organizers described the event as the largest recent political protest in India led by a single alliance, drawing comparisons to earlier movements such as Anna Hazare’s anti-corruption campaign and the CPI protest over a CAG report leak. The turnout, described as hundreds of participants, underscored the ability of the India coalition to mobilize a significant cross‑section of citizens around its demands. The march highlighted the opposition’s demands for SAIAR’s suspension and the chairman’s resignation.
