Violent riots erupted across France in October 2026, sparked by school protests and quickly escalating into widespread looting. Foreign leaders including U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu linked the unrest to migrant infiltration. In response, French President Emmanuel Macron, speaking from Qatar, called the claims "stupid" and accused foreign actors of spreading AI-generated misinformation. Macron emphasized that claims of invasion by "hordes" are false and that France will provide factual clarity to correct the record. During his Gulf tour, Macron secured an additional 100,000 metric tons of energy supplies for France. As Macron stated, "comments that are as unacceptable as they are stupid, from many people, including foreign leaders," and "AI-generated images depicting scenes that never actually happened in France" pose a serious threat to democracy. He also noted, "We've had people claiming that we were invaded by hordes of migrants and Islamists, which is completely false."
