The New Zealand Cricket Board has confirmed the selection of a 21‑player ODI squad for the upcoming series against India. Head coach Rob Walter is overseeing the squad selection. The series is set to begin on November 4, 2026, although an earlier reference had pointed to an October 22 start date.
Rob Walter has outlined a plan that uses two different squads over the course of the tour. Senior members of the team will take the field for the first three ODI matches and then step aside to prepare for the subsequent Test series. After those opening games, a second group of seven players will be brought in to contest the final two ODIs.

Among the seven players earmarked for the latter part of the ODI series are Finn Allen and Lockie Ferguson. Both athletes are making their first ODI appearance since 2023, having previously opted out of New Zealand’s central contracts. Their return marks the first time they have been named in an ODI squad since 2023.

Rachin Ravindra will be available for the opening three ODI fixtures. He is recovering from a shoulder injury and will be fit to play in those early games.
The New Zealand tour of India includes five T20 matches, five ODI matches and two Test matches. The ODI series comprises five games, split into the initial three‑match block for the senior squad and the final two‑match block for the returning players.
