Raphaël Glucksmann, 46, emerged victorious in the French Socialist Party primaries, capturing the nomination that will make him the party’s official candidate for the 2027 presidential election.

The vote tally showed Glucksmann with 66,17% of the ballots cast. His nearest rival, first secretary Olivier Faure, obtained 14,5%, while former presidential candidate Ségolène Royal secured 7%. The remaining share, 6%, was split between Emmanuel Maurel and Jérôme Guedj.
A total of 120.000 militants and sympathizers took part in the primary, indicating the level of engagement within the party’s base.
Following his victory, Glucksmann became the official candidate of the Socialist Party for the 2027 presidential elections.
The voting process was not smooth; a cyberattack delayed the vote, creating a temporary disruption before the results could be finalised.
The primary was held on 2026-10-11, a date that marks the moment when the Socialist Party settled on its standard‑bearer for the upcoming presidential race.
Following his victory, Glucksmann became the official candidate of the Socialist Party for the 2027 presidential elections.
Despite the primary win, polls conducted after the contest suggest that Glucksmann’s support among the broader electorate stands at around 10%, indicating a considerable gap to close before the general election.

Analysts interpret the outcome as a triumph for a moderate left wing, distinct from the more hard‑line position represented by Jean‑Luc Mélenchon’s LFI. The result is presented as evidence that a left that remains true to its core principles can still achieve electoral success.
In celebrating his win, Glucksmann declared in Spanish: "Este resultado dice algo potente: una izquierda fiel a sus valores puede unir, gobernar y ganar. Puede hablar de justicia, de ecología y de República sin renunciar a nada."
François Hollande, Olivier Faure and Ségolène Royal are each described as neutral in their stance toward the outcome, reflecting a measured response from these figures.
Jean‑Luc Mélenchon is characterised as critical of the result, while Raphaël Glucksmann himself is marked as supportive, underscoring the internal divide within the left over the direction the party should take.
