Emergency services responded to a pneumatic boat carrying 139 migrants located approximately 150 kilometers northeast of Arrecife, Lanzarote. The vessel Guardamar Urania rescued 132 survivors, comprising 120 men and 12 women, and transported them to Lanzarote.

Seven people lost their lives during the voyage. Rescuers recovered only two bodies from the craft, as survivors reported that five other victims were thrown overboard into the Atlantic Ocean under unclear circumstances. Authorities are currently investigating the situation regarding the missing individuals.
The operation was part of an intense weekend of emergency responses along the Canary Route involving multiple interventions that totaled nearly 300 individuals.
In additional operations, the rescue vessel Salvamar Acrux intercepted 59 Moroccan migrants 8 kilometers off the coast of Lanzarote.

🇬🇲🇸🇳🇲🇱 🇮🇨: On Sunday, 11 October 2026, 668 migrants reached Spain’s Canary Islands aboard four vessels within 24 hours, according to Spanish emergency services, Salvamento Marítimo, and reports compiled by Gambian migration activist Ebrima Drammeh of the Ebrima Migrant Situation Foundation. Two cayucos carrying 356 people arrived at the port of La Restinga on El Hierro: the first, with 220 passengers (205 men, 7 women and 8 minors—7 boys and 1 girl) from Senegal, Guinea-Conakry and Mali, entered under its own power around 4:50 p.m. after a six-day voyage from Niodior in Senegal; the second, with 136 people (106 men, 12 women and 18 minors—17 boys and 1 girl) from Senegal, The Gambia and Guinea-Conakry, arrived about 6:40 p.m. escorted by the Salvamar Navia after leaving Brufut in The Gambia seven days earlier, with two occupants taken to Virgen de Los Reyes Island Hospital. Another 216 people reached Gran Canaria and 96 arrived in Lanzarote. These landings, confirmed by outlets including RTVC, EFE and Cadena SER, highlight the continued dangers of the Atlantic route, where Drammeh has long noted that only survivors are counted while many others die or disappear, and has repeatedly warned communities to weigh the risks carefully before departing.
