The Board of Control for Cricket in India announced that Pragyan Ojha has been appointed as the new Chief Selector of Team India, succeeding Ajit Agarkar.

Before this appointment, Ojha had already served in an interim capacity as a selector.
Alongside Ojha, the selection panel now comprises Shiv Sundar Das, RP Singh, Ajay Ratra, and Ramesh Powar.
The board stated that the appointments aim to bring stability and experience to the selection process.
Ojha’s own international career concluded after a match in which he was named Player of the Match, yet he was not called up again afterward.
The BCCI’s announcement also described Ojha as the new chairman of the men’s selection committee, emphasizing that his extensive Test background was a key factor in the decision.
Ramesh Powar was simultaneously brought onto the committee as a member. His reputation stems from a coaching career and various contributions to Indian cricket, adding another layer of expertise to the group.
The board stated that the appointments aim to bring stability and experience to the selection process.

The reconstituted committee is tasked with overseeing both the selection of players and aspects of coaching for the men’s team.
During his Test career, Ojha featured in 24 matches and claimed 113 wickets, figures that highlight his role as a frontline spinner in the longest format.
In One Day Internationals, Ojha appeared in 18 games and took 21 wickets, showing his ability to adapt to the limited‑overs arena.
His shortest‑format record includes six T20 internationals, completing the picture of his international experience across all three major formats.
