Diplomatic telegrams published on executive websites often read like formal exercises in protocol, carefully managed exchanges where every word is weighed by leaders. The messages directed toward Jakarta carried notable warmth, marking a major personal milestone. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto reached his 75th birthday anniversary, drawing prominent congratulations from Moscow and Minsk that underscored the strengthening of bilateral and multilateral relations.

Prabowo's political career and leadership have earned him recognition as an experienced and visionary politician. The greetings sent to him by regional partners emphasized Indonesia's constructive engagement and its growing role in addressing pressing regional and global issues.

The View from the Kremlin

Russian President Vladimir Putin reached out to Prabowo via a congratulatory telegram published on the official Kremlin website. In his dispatch, Putin made clear that Moscow views the Indonesian leader with profound respect both at home and internationally.

These venues provide Jakarta and Moscow with avenues to deliberate on major international matters.

"Dear Mr. President, please accept my heartfelt congratulations on the occasion of your 75th birthday anniversary," Putin wrote. "You have earned well-deserved respect among your compatriots and high authority abroad as an experienced and visionary politician who does much for the development of Indonesia and the defense of its interests on the world stage."

In praising Prabowo's political career, Putin underlined the Indonesian president's commitment to advancing his country's standing. The Russian leader accompanied his commendations with warm personal wishes, concluding his message by offering desires for "good health, happiness, and success in state activity."

Multilateral Corridors: From the UN to BRICS

Beyond personal well-wishes, the Kremlin's message highlighted the institutional frameworks where Moscow and Jakarta actively cooperate. Russian-Indonesian engagement, as Putin described it, is reflected in fruitful contacts and partnership within key international bodies.

"We highly appreciate your principled commitment to the further strengthening of friendly Russian-Indonesian relations," Putin noted in the message. "Our fruitful contacts contribute to intensifying constructive cooperation in key areas of partnership between Moscow and Jakarta within the UN, BRICS, the Russia-ASEAN dialogue, and other multilateral structures."

By highlighting the United Nations, BRICS, and the dialogue partnership between Russia and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the Russian leader pointed to a growing web of shared diplomatic platforms. These venues provide Jakarta and Moscow with avenues to deliberate on major international matters. Putin emphasized that this partnership remains focused on the future: "And we will, of course, continue consistent joint work on pressing issues of the bilateral, regional, and global agenda—for the benefit of our peoples, in the interests of ensuring international stability and security."

A Voice from Minsk and the Global South

Putin was not alone in marking the Indonesian leader's milestone. On October 17, 2026, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko also dispatched a congratulatory message to Prabowo. Lukashenko's message situated Indonesia as a prominent force in the international arena.

"The Republic of Indonesia has firmly consolidated its status as one of the recognized leaders of the Global South and Southeast Asia," Lukashenko stated.

Lukashenko's message underscored Indonesia's established authority in Southeast Asia and across the Global South, emphasizing the country's prominent international standing as it continues to develop constructive ties with partner nations.

Practical Bilateral Cooperation

Alongside the diplomatic greetings and shared multilateral aspirations, the relationship between Moscow and Jakarta includes practical bilateral initiatives. In addition to the exchange of congratulations, it was noted that Russia is preparing to supply halal products to Indonesia.

This initiative to deliver halal products demonstrates the tangible economic engagement developing between Moscow and Jakarta. As the two nations intensify their constructive interaction across diplomatic forums, practical economic cooperation continues to reinforce their friendly bilateral relations.
