Duralex, known for its unbreakable glasses, had been placed in judicial management for the fifth time in 20 years. This recurring placement had put the company’s future in question, and the jobs of its workers were at risk. The repeated reorganizations underscored the challenges the company faced despite its reputation for durable products.

At just thirty-two years old, Cédric Meston stepped forward through his holding company Tomé to acquire Duralex. His bid was framed as a rescue operation that would keep 155 positions alive. Those jobs represent a substantial share of the workforce, offering a lifeline to employees who had faced uncertainty through multiple rounds of court-supervised restructuring.
The rescue plan presented by Meston calls for a reduction in overall production volume. At the same time, the company will shift emphasis toward new product lines.

To finance the turnaround, a package of 16 million euros has been assembled. This sum includes contributions from public sources as well as investment from Xavier Niel’s NJJ Capital.
Following the acquisition, the management team was reshaped. Silham El Kasmi was named the new chief executive officer, tasked with overseeing the implementation of the leaner production model and the rollout of the new ranges.
On 14 October 2025, the commercial court of Orléans formally validated the reprise of Duralex by Meston’s holding. The court’s decision confirmed that the plan would safeguard 155 jobs, which amounts to more than seventy percent of the company’s 220 permanent positions. The validation gave the rescue effort a legal foothold and set the stage for the subsequent transfer of ownership.
Celebrating the successful outcome, Cédric Meston declared, “C’est gagné ! Nous sommes les nouveaux propriétaires de Duralex”. This statement marks his reaction to the court’s approval and the completion of the reacquisition, a personal milestone for the young entrepreneur and a hopeful moment for the factory’s staff.
