The metro inauguration was part of a broader infrastructure push that included significant investments in national highways and railway projects. Modi also inaugurated National Highway projects worth around ₹3,700 crore, notably the 36-km Vadugapatti-Therkuvenganallur section of NH-744 and the 30-km Madurai Ring Road. Additionally, railway infrastructure projects valued at ₹750 crore were unveiled, including the Karaikal-Peralam line and five redeveloped Amrit Stations.
