On 2026-10-15 the Madrid regional government announced that elections had been convened, setting the stage for a heightened political contest in the region.

Also on 2026-10-15, during the plenary session, Isabel Díaz Ayuso declared that "La izquierda se vuelve extremadamente violenta cuando va a perder las elecciones," accusing the left of adopting extremist tactics when it anticipates electoral loss.
Ayuso further argued that the left "secuestra las calles de Madrid con atascos, huelgas, manifestaciones, porque no son capaces de reconocer que están perdiendo las elecciones," asserting that strikes, protests and resulting traffic jams are deliberately used to disrupt the city when the left senses defeat.
Other opposition parties denounced Ayuso’s remarks as "ridiculous" and "nervous" and criticized her insults and lack of decorum.
She added that "Han empezado a venir todo tipo de grupos que tienen colonizada la plaza vacía durante el día," suggesting that various groups were beginning to fill empty squares, a development she linked to the left’s alleged strategy.
Manuela Bergerot of Más Madrid criticized the PP for denouncing Ayuso in the plenary session.
