Abhijeet Dipke, who founded the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), was among a large group of activists taken into custody in Delhi to stop a planned demonstration at Jantar Mantar. The demonstration had called for the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner. Dipke’s co‑convenors, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, were also detained and later released after appearing before an Executive Magistrate. The authorities imposed a one‑year condition of peace and good behaviour on those released. Despite the round‑up, Dipke declared that the party’s campaign would continue and that his colleagues would speak to the media in Delhi.

After his release, Dipke left for his native village in Maharashtra following the death of his grandmother.
The detentions were not limited to the party leaders. More than seven thousand protesters were detained at various locations across the national capital.

Despite heading home, Dipke stated that the CJP campaign will continue and that his colleagues will address the media in Delhi. He warned that the CJP "will neither back down nor be intimidated" and predicted that October 10 would be remembered as "the beginning of the end of this dictatorship." He also directed sharp criticism at the Prime Minister, calling Narendra Modi "an embarrassment to India" and saying the country had "never seen a bigger coward and bully." The brief further records that Gyanesh Kumar and Narendra Modi were assessed as critical in their stance, while Dipke’s own stance was described as neutral.
