On September 7th, 1996, rapper Tupac Shakur was shot multiple times in Las Vegas after attending a Mike Tyson boxing match.

Hours earlier, Shakur had assaulted Orlando Anderson, the nephew of Duane 'Keffe D' Davis, a former figure of the South Side Compton Crips gang. This beating sparked a gang-related vendetta that led to Shakur's murder.
Duane 'Keffe D' Davis was later found guilty of ordering the murder. His own admissions in his memoirs provided crucial evidence during the trial.
On October 13th, 2026, Judge Carli Kierny sentenced Davis to 40 years minimum in prison.
After a three-week trial, Davis was found guilty on August 1st, 2023, of orchestrating Shakur's murder.
On October 13th, 2026, Judge Carli Kierny sentenced Davis to 40 years minimum in prison. She stated, “You don't have the right to take a man from his family. You don't have the right to take his life, take all his future, then get away with it. Especially when this man is called Tupac Shakur.” She also noted, “It took us 30 years, but today you are going to answer for your acts.”
Davis's lawyer, Michael Sanft, announced plans to appeal the decision, saying, “They are going to appeal this decision.”
The sentencing resolves a long-standing case that had remained unsolved for three decades.
