Complaint Lodged by the Gurdwara Committee

The Delhi Gurdwara Management Committee submitted a formal complaint to the Delhi Police on the same day, 2026-10-12. In the complaint, the committee stated that AAP workers and supporters had started protesting inside the gurdwara, creating chaos and disturbing the sanctity of the place. The committee also said the protesters were attempting to reach Jantar Mantar to demonstrate against the Chief Election Commissioner, Gyanesh Kumar.

Police Registers First Information Report

Acting on the complaint, the Delhi Police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Arvind Kejriwal, the chief of the Aam Aadmi Party, and other party leaders on 2026-10-12. The FIR was based on the allegations made by the gurdwara committee regarding the protest inside the religious site and the alleged misuse of the venue for political activity.

It said that their actions amounted to misusing a religious site for political purposes.

Allegations of Chaos and Misuse of the Religious Site

The gurdwara committee's complaint specifically accused the AAP participants of creating chaos and disturbance within Bangla Sahib Gurdwara. It said that their actions amounted to misusing a religious site for political purposes. The committee described the scene as disorderly, with the protesters attempting to use the gurdwara premises as a staging ground for their march toward Jantar Mantar before being detained by police.

Claims of Distorted Videos on Social Media

In addition to the allegations of on-site chaos, the Delhi Gurdwara Management Committee claimed that AAP leaders and Members of the Legislative Assembly circulated videos on social media that presented a distorted version of what had happened at the gurdwara. The committee said these videos were intended to misrepresent the events and to portray the protest in a false light.

Investigation Underway

Following the filing of the FIR, the Delhi Police launched an investigation into the incident. Officers are examining available footage from the gurdwara and surrounding areas to determine the exact sequence of events on 2026-10-12. The investigation aims to establish whether the allegations of chaos, misuse of the religious site, and the spread of distorted videos hold up under scrutiny, as the detained protesters remain in police custody for questioning.
