The war in Ukraine has seen the Starlink satellite network become a crucial tool for Ukrainian forces. However, reports emerged that the network was operating under speed restrictions, including a 161 km/h limitation on Starshield, which Ukrainian military sources say hinder operations. On the matter, US President Donald Trump stated that Elon Musk had restarted the Starlink satellite internet network for Ukraine. During a press conference, Trump said, "Je ne veux pas faire de commentaires sur le fait que j’ai appelé ou que quelqu’un d’autre a appelé - ça ne change rien. Ce qui compte, c’est qu’il l’a relancé". The European Commission had previously called on SpaceX to restore full access for Kyiv. The Wall Street Journal reported that Trump called Musk to lift the throttling on Starshield. While some accounts suggest the network began operating more normally after the call, Ukrainian sources continue to note that the 161 km/h restriction remains in effect.
